Cover kit SAS, BMW S 1000 RR 2019- (K67) and M 1000 RR 2021- (K66), when SAS valve is removed, for valve cover
These covers are needed when the SAS (secondary air system) valve is removed, to close the openings on the valve cover.
In petrol engines, the secondary air system is activated after a cold start in order to minimize the exhaust gas components HC and CO during the warm-up phase. The fan conveys ambient air, which is blown into the exhaust system through the valve, bypassing the engine. There, the air reacts with unburned exhaust gas components, which helps the catalytic converter to reach operating temperature.
This system was developed primarily with a view to the EURO emissions standards. When converting a bike to race track use (without catalytic converter, etc.), we recommend removing the SLS.
